Content Writing & SEO

I write. And edit. That's the gist of it. That's what I do. I like to think I blend a healthy mixture of good content that lets people know about you and optimisation that at least satisfies search algorithms.

The work I do covers blog posts, general on-page content with an SEO lean, product descriptions, proofreading/editorial work, audits, and optimisation support/advice.

If you're a small business or you're just starting out, contact me if you'd like to know more about how I can help optimise your web presence for the AI takeover. I mean...emergence.

Nails on a Nickel is based in Ontario, Canada, and specialises in handmade and custom, press-on nails. The owner is a good friend of mine, who was pleased with the work I did on her site. Work completed included:

  • An SEO audit, with an initial check showing the website "health" at 69 of a possible 100.
  • A rework of the homepage and the other pages on the site, tweaking to ensure correct distribution of H1 and H2 tags.
  • Some editing and rewriting of the on-page copy, which included targeting more specific keywords, such as "custom nails," "handmade nails," and "nails from Ontario."
  • Wrote an About Me section to connect with users and customers on a more personal level.
  • Altered the social media icons to make them visible to users and corrected the links themselves to ensure they go to the Nails on a Nickel channels.
  • Added alt-tags to images and made slight adjustments to some of the web site design, mainly spacing and text sizes.
  • New SEO audit check showed the site is now at a healthier 81/100.

DuraCrete Fencing is a Reading-based company that specialises in concrete fence installations for homes and business properties. Work I carried out on their site included:

  • An SEO audit, which provided data for areas of the website that could be improved for better search engine optimisation. This included a brief consultation with the client.
  • A rewrite of most of the on-page copy, implementing targeted keywords chosen by the client.
  • The addition of alt-tags to images, as well as internal links to other areas of the site, to better satisfy search engine algorithms.
  • A new blog post based on a topic chosen by the client (at the time of writing, the post has not yet been published).
  • This work resulted in an increase in general SEO health. Online metrics showed the site was more in-line with averages, with a new score of 77/100 compared to 60/100 in the initial check.
